Calgary software and app development

Custom software development for Calgary operations, built and demoed weekly

Ojastra does custom software development for Calgary businesses, from energy service and industrial contractors to agribusiness, logistics and construction. You get a fixed price before work starts, you own the code, and every week you click through a working version.

We're based in Toronto, which for Calgary clients means video calls, a demo each week and a trip out for kickoff when it pays off. Calgary runs two hours behind us, so we book your 9 a.m. at 11 a.m. our time.

Fixed price. You own the code. A working demo every week.

Where Calgary crews and offices lose hours

Field reports on paper

Crews fill in forms at the yard, the site or the wellhead, and someone retypes them at the office days later. Invoices wait on that retyping.

Safety and compliance records scattered across folders

Inspections, certificates and equipment logs live in email and shared drives, so an audit turns into a week of searching.

Industry software that fits half your process

Packages built for the whole sector charge a lot and still miss how your crews bill. You end up running a spreadsheet beside them.

App quotes from $15K to $100K with no explanation

Three quotes can describe three different products. Ours comes after a one-week blueprint, with the scope in writing.

What we build for Calgary businesses

Field service and dispatch for energy and industrial contractors

Work orders, crew scheduling, time and materials captured on a phone, and an invoice drafted from the finished job.

Inspection, safety and compliance records

Digital forms with photos and signatures, expiry reminders for certificates and equipment, and one searchable record when an auditor asks.

Equipment and asset tracking

Where each unit is, when it was last serviced and who has it, for rental yards, service companies and equipment dealers.

Order and delivery tools for agribusiness

Order desks, delivery scheduling and inventory for feed suppliers, equipment dealers and processors serving Alberta's farms and ranches.

Booking and ticketing for peak-season operators

Event, hospitality and tour businesses that surge around the Stampede and the summer drive to Banff, with systems built to take the load.

AI for daily reports and estimates

Field notes turned into draft reports, quotes built from your price sheet, with a person approving before anything goes to a customer.

Software for Alberta's working economy

Calgary's economy has long been tied to energy: oil and gas producers, pipeline and utility operators, and the engineering, fabrication and service firms that support them. Those businesses carry heavy documentation, strict safety and regulatory paperwork, and crews spread across remote sites, which is where mobile forms, dispatch tools and clean reporting save the most hours.

Agriculture surrounds the city, from cattle ranching to grain, along with the equipment dealers, feed suppliers and processors that serve it. Calgary also sits on major road and rail routes, which makes it a logistics base for western Canada. Seasons drive both worlds, so software has to cope with harvest, calving and winter shutdowns.

Calgary is a gateway to Banff and the Rockies, and the Stampede fills the city every July. Short, sharp peaks like these are why a booking or ticketing system needs testing for the busy week, not just an average Tuesday.

Questions owners ask us

How much does custom software development cost in Calgary?

Most projects fall between $5K and $60K CAD. A single automation or integration is $5K–$12K, an internal tool such as field service or asset tracking is $12K–$40K, and a customer-facing app is $20K–$60K. The one-week $1,500 blueprint comes off the build price.

Why choose a Toronto software company for a Calgary project?

We run the project by video with a demo every week, so you see progress without anyone travelling. We can fly out for the kickoff when it helps, and meetings are booked around Mountain Time.

Can the software work at remote sites with no cell signal?

Yes. Field screens can save forms, photos and signatures on the phone and send them when a connection returns. We test that behaviour deliberately, with the phone in airplane mode.

Do you build mobile apps, or should we look for an app developer in Calgary?

We build both: iPhone and Android apps and web apps, usually $20K–$60K for a customer-facing one. Anything that is only a $1,000 template falls outside our work, so if you're comparing us with a web design company, expect a conversation about what the site must do.

Do you offer IT consulting in Calgary?

We advise on business systems: what to buy, what to connect, what to custom-build, with prices. Day-to-day IT support, device management and network monitoring are not services we provide.

Could our project qualify for SR&ED, IRAP or BDC funding?

Possibly, if the work is technically new. SR&ED tax credits and NRC IRAP funding look for technical uncertainty, and BDC LIFT lending is for companies with revenue above $1M. We prepare the documentation, and your accountant, NRC or BDC decides.
